PEORIA, Ariz. — The ACL Mariners continued their recent surge Friday afternoon, defeating the ACL Angels 3-2 at the Peoria Sports Complex to extend their winning streak to four games and move within a half-game of the Angels in the Arizona Complex League standings.

The Mariners received another strong pitching performance, led by right-hander Dylan Wilson, who allowed two runs on four hits over four innings while striking out two. The bullpen took over from there, as Caleb Franzen and Cristian Aray combined for three scoreless innings, surrendering just one hit while recording four strikeouts.

Seattle opened the scoring in the first inning thanks to a pair of Angels miscues. After a two-out error by third baseman Victor Rodriguez extended the inning, the Mariners loaded the bases with the help of another defensive miscue. Sebastian De Andrade then drew a bases-loaded walk to force home the game’s first run.

The Mariners doubled their advantage an inning later. Jo Oyama lined a one-out double into the gap before Diego Contreras followed with a single to right field. A bobble by Angels right fielder Yojancel Cabrera allowed Oyama to score easily, giving Seattle a 2-0 lead.

The Angels answered in the fourth. Rodriguez led off the inning with a double down the left-field line and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Bryan Martinez followed with an RBI ground-ball single to cut the deficit in half. Consecutive hits by Eliezer Rivero and Edgar Alfonso later in the inning tied the game at 2-2.

The Mariners wasted little time responding.

Nick Becker opened the bottom of the fourth with his eighth double of the season, and two batters later Yorger Bautista delivered the decisive blow. Facing a 1-2 count, Bautista lined a single into left field to score Becker and restore Seattle’s lead at 3-2.

Franzen protected the one-run advantage with a dominant fifth inning, striking out two. Aray navigated the biggest threat of the afternoon in the sixth after hitting Rivero with a pitch to open the inning. Rivero advanced to second on a stolen base and moved to third on a groundout, but Aray stranded the tying run by striking out TJ Ford before inducing a flyout to left field.

Aray then retired the side in order in the seventh to secure Seattle’s fourth consecutive victory, the longest active winning streak in the Arizona Complex League.

During the four-game streak, the Mariners have outscored opponents 34-15 and have allowed just two runs after the sixth inning.
