GLENDALE, Ariz. — The ACL Mariners moved into first place in the ACL West on Sunday night, defeating the ACL White Sox 14-3 at Camelback Ranch behind a 17-hit offensive outburst and a strong performance from the pitching staff.

Seattle fell behind 2-0 after the first inning but quickly responded. In the second, Brayden Corn scored on a wild pitch after Joshua Francis advanced runners with a sacrifice bunt, cutting the deficit to one.

The Mariners took control in the third inning. Dalton Davis opened the frame with a double before Kelvin Alcantara drove him home with an RBI single to tie the game. Corn followed with an RBI double, and Francis added another run-scoring double to give Seattle a 4-2 lead.

Davis sparked the offense again in the fourth with his second double of the night. Two batters later, Alcantara launched a two-run home run to left field, his fourth homer of the season, extending the Mariners’ lead to 6-2.

Seattle continued to add on in the fifth. After Jo Oyama was hit by a pitch, Francis connected on a two-run homer over the left-field wall to push the advantage to 8-2. The blast gave Francis three RBIs on the night.

The Mariners broke the game open in the eighth inning. Davis drew a walk, and Alcantara doubled before a wild pitch brought home a run. Sebastian De Andrade followed with an RBI single, and Francis later delivered another run-scoring hit to center field, setting a career high with his fourth RBI of the game.

After the White Sox scored once in the bottom of the eighth, Seattle answered with three more runs in the ninth. Yorger Bautista drove in Nick Becker for his team-leading 30th RBI of the season before De Andrade and Corn each added RBI singles to cap the scoring.

Francis finished with four RBIs, while Alcantara collected three hits, including a home run, and drove in three runs. Davis reached base four times and recorded two doubles from the leadoff spot.

The Mariners’ pitching staff was equally effective. Starter Po-Chun Lin tossed 3 1/3 innings, allowing one hit while striking out four. Seattle’s bullpen combined to allow just one run over the final 5 2/3 innings.

Anthony Karoly earned his second win of the season after throwing 1 2/3 hitless innings with one strikeout. In total, Mariners pitchers held the White Sox to six hits and struck out nine batters.

With the victory, Seattle extended its winning streak to six games and moved a half-game ahead of the ACL Royals for first place in the ACL West. The two clubs will meet on Tuesday in Peoria in a matchup featuring the top two teams in the division. The Mariners won the previous meeting between the clubs, 6-4.
