Mariners Finish Regular Season with 9-4 Win Over Brewers

The ACL Mariners closed out the regular season in style Thursday morning, defeating the ACL Brewers 9-4 at the Peoria Sports Complex to finish with the second-best record in the Arizona Complex League.

After Dylan Wilson loaded the bases in the third inning, Alan Carpinteiro came on in relief but struggled to find the strike zone, walking in three runs as Milwaukee briefly grabbed a 3-2 lead. The Mariners quickly answered, scoring seven of the game’s final eight runs to pull away.

Yorger Bautista led the offense, going 3-for-3 with a three-run home run, three RBI and two runs scored. Martin Gonzalez drove in a run and doubled, Bryant Mendez scored twice and added an RBI, while Leandro Romero and Carlos Gonzalez also collected RBI. Dalton Davis finished with two hits as Seattle piled up 10 hits.

Dominic Castellano settled the game after the rough third inning, tossing two scoreless innings with four strikeouts to earn his first win of the season. Angel Chicuate followed with a scoreless inning, and Ruben Ramirez closed out the victory despite allowing one run in the seventh.

The Mariners now turn their attention to the postseason, where they’ll look to carry their strong finish into Saturday’s Arizona Complex League playoff opener.
