Highest ceiling

1. Ace Reese

Ceiling: All-Star third baseman

He has legitimate 30-home run potential and could become Seattle’s everyday third baseman if everything clicks. The Mariners targeted him because they believed his offensive upside outweighed the injury concerns that caused him to slide to No. 24.

2. Jake Brown

Ceiling: Above-average everyday right fielder

He combines power, athleticism, and defensive ability. Had he not broken his hand during the season, some evaluators believed he might have gone even earlier in the draft.

3. Henry Ford

Ceiling: Boom-or-bust slugger

He may have the most raw power in the entire Mariners draft class. If Seattle can improve his contact skills, he could become a middle-of-the-order hitter. If not, he could stall in the upper minors.

4. Nathan Taylor

Ceiling: No. 3 MLB starter

He already throws strikes consistently and has the type of secondary pitches Seattle has done an excellent job refining.
