PEORIA, Ariz. — The ACL Mariners bounced back in impressive fashion Saturday morning, combining timely hitting with another strong performance on the mound to defeat the ACL Rangers, 8-2, at the Peoria Sports Complex.

Seattle improved to 28-18 with the victory, staying firmly in the Arizona Complex League playoff race while receiving contributions throughout the lineup and another dominant effort from its pitching staff.

Roberto Perez set the tone early, tossing four scoreless innings while allowing just one hit, walking one, and striking out six. Cristian Aray (5-1) followed with two innings of relief, surrendering two runs, only one earned, while earning the win. Max Rodriguez closed out the afternoon with a scoreless seventh inning despite issuing two walks.

The Mariners broke through in the second inning when Brayden Corn doubled into left field before Sebastian De Andrade delivered an RBI single to score the game’s first run.

Seattle seized control in the third. Nick Becker singled and later scored on Dalton Davis’ RBI single before Kelvin Alcantara launched a two-run homer to right field, his sixth home run of the season, to stretch the lead to 4-0. The blast also marked Alcantara’s second consecutive game with a home run.

The offense wasn’t finished.

After Carlos Gonzalez and Jo Oyama worked walks in the fourth, Diego Contreras and Becker delivered consecutive RBI singles before Davis ripped a two-run double into left field, extending Seattle’s advantage to 7-0.

Texas got on the board in the fifth after an error led to an unearned run, and Noah Franklin added a solo homer in the sixth. But the Rangers managed just three hits all afternoon and finished 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position.

Seattle answered immediately in the bottom of the fifth. De Andrade singled and later scored when Contreras lined an RBI single to center, pushing the lead back to six at 8-1.

The Mariners collected 10 hits in the victory, with Becker finishing 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Davis drove in a game-high three runs while adding two hits, and Contreras recorded a hit, an RBI, and scored once. De Andrade chipped in two hits and an RBI, while Alcantara finished with two RBIs thanks to his back-to-back home runs.

On the mound, Perez, Aray, and Rodriguez combined to limit the Rangers to just three hits while striking out seven, continuing a stretch of strong pitching that has helped stabilize Seattle during the playoff push.

The Mariners improved to 28-18 and will head to Salt River Fields in Scottsdale on Monday to face the ACL Rockies (33-13), owners of the best record in the Arizona Complex League.
