MESA, Ariz. — The ACL Mariners (32-21) erased an early two-run deficit to defeat the ACL Athletics (15-37), 5-3, Tuesday afternoon at the Lew Wolff Training Complex. Connor Wilford earned his second victory of the season after allowing three runs over five innings, while Pedro Da Costa Lemos tossed two scoreless innings to record his first save.

Seattle finished with 10 hits, getting multi-hit performances from Diego Contreras, Dalton Davis and Kelvin Alcantara as the offense answered every Athletics rally.

The Mariners struck first in the opening inning. Diego Contreras tripled to right field and scored moments later on a wild pitch, giving Seattle an early 1-0 advantage.

The Athletics answered immediately in the bottom half. Jared Davis was hit by a pitch before Tommy Takayoshi delivered an RBI single to center, tying the game at one.

Oakland moved in front during the third inning. Juddah Morris tripled home Jared Davis before Takayoshi followed with an RBI double, putting the Athletics ahead 3-1.

Seattle responded with its biggest inning of the afternoon in the fourth.

Dalton Davis opened the inning with a walk, stole second base and scored when Kelvin Alcantara lined an RBI single to center. Manuel Almeida followed with a run-scoring double before Diego Contreras ripped an RBI double to right, completing a three-run inning that pushed the Mariners back in front, 4-3.

The Mariners added an insurance run in the seventh. After Kelvin Alcantara worked a one-out walk, Brayden Corn lined an RBI double to center field, extending Seattle’s lead to 5-3.

Wilford settled in after the third inning, limiting further damage before turning the game over to the bullpen. Pedro Da Costa Lemos retired all six hitters he faced over the final two innings to secure the victory.

Contreras finished 2-for-5 with a triple, double and RBI. Alcantara went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI, while Davis collected two doubles, scored once and stole a base. Almeida added an RBI double and Corn drove in the insurance run with his seventh double of the season.

The Mariners will be at homw Wednesday, July 15, when they host the ACL Padres at the Peoria Sports Complex. Seattle defeated San Diego 1-0 in their previous meeting last week.
